Luna Rossa AC75 is the monohull boat that was recently unveiled by Prada, and that it’s going to represent Italy’s Circolo Della Vela Sicilia Yacht Club at the 36th Edition of America’s Cup. This innovative creation was built by Persico Marine Boatyard, and it took almost two years to be absolutely finished. It was on the past October 2nd in Cagliari, that Prada proudly presented their revolutionary new creation, a full foiling monohull AC75 Luna Rossa. This two-year built boat will represent Italy and the Circolo Della Vela Sicilia in America’s Cup, the oldest and most prestigious trophy in sailing. This amazing vessel required the expertise of 90 people in the construction, including 37 team designers.

This exquisite creation is made out of 7,000 square meters of carbon fiber and 400 square meters of aluminum honeycomb, in order to create the hull. The two innovative carbon-fiber ‘foil arms’, weighing 500 kg each, have been designed to support a maximum load of 27 tonnes. There’s also a soft win’ rig that is key to the latest model, with two sails hoisted in parallel and inbuilt systems to control the sail shape.

The AC75 will be sailed by the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team in the Prada Cup, America’s Cup challengers’ selection series, followed by the final match of the 36th America’s Cup presented by Prada, scheduled to take place in Auckland (New Zealand) from January to March 2021.
